Making an omelette in an air fryer is not only quick and easy, but it also gives you a chance to enjoy this classic dish in a whole new way. This air fryer omelette is the perfect breakfast or brunch option. Especially for busy mornings when you need something nutritious and delicious but don’t have time to stand over a stove. By simply whisking your eggs and adding your favourite ingredients, you can create a perfectly cooked omelette in no time. Without the fuss of a frying pan.
The beauty of using the air fryer is that it guarantees an evenly cooked omelette every time, with a fluffy texture and a lightly crispy edge. No more worrying about flipping the omelette or undercooking the centre. Just pour the mixture into your air fryer, set the temperature, and let it work its magic. This method is so much faster and more convenient than traditional pan-frying. And you’ll be amazed at how perfectly your omelette turns out with minimal effort.
One of the best things about this recipe is its versatility. You can easily customize your omelette with whatever fillings you have on hand. Making it an excellent way to use up leftovers. Whether you prefer classic ingredients like ham and cheese or want to get creative with mushrooms, bell peppers, peas, or even leftover roast potatoes, the options are endless. You can also switch up the proteins – chorizo, bacon, or even sausages are great alternatives to ham. As for cheese, if you don’t have cheddar on hand, other options like brie, feta, mozzarella, or parmesan all work wonderfully in an omelette.

KIT you will need an air fryer, jug and liner
Ingredients for Air Fryer Omelette
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons of milk (optional for fluffier texture)
A handful of fresh spinach, roughly chopped
A slice of cooked ham, chopped
2 tablespoons of grated cheddar cheese
A fresh tomato, chopped
A tablespoon of fresh parsley, finely chopped
Sea salt and ground black pepper
Method
Start by cracking two fresh eggs into a heatproof jug – something like a Pyrex measuring jug works really well for this. If you want a slightly creamier texture, you can add a splash of milk at this stage, though it’s completely optional. Whisk the eggs (and milk if using) together until fully combined and a little frothy.
Next, finely chop a small handful of fresh spinach, a slice or two of cooked ham, half a tomato, and a few sprigs of parsley. Add these ingredients to the jug with the eggs, but save a little parsley for garnish later. Now stir in a generous pinch of grated cheddar cheese. This adds flavour and helps give the omelette a lovely gooey texture. Season with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, and give everything a good mix so the ingredients are evenly distributed.
Prepare your air fryer by placing a paper liner or a small oven-proof dish inside the basket. Make sure to leave the crisper plate in place for proper air circulation. Carefully pour the egg mixture into the liner, spreading out the fillings if needed so everything is nice and even.
Set your air fryer to 190°C and cook the omelette for around 8 to 10 minutes. Or until the top is golden brown, the centre is set, and it is piping hot all the way through.
So once cooked, carefully lift the liner or dish out of the air fryer basket. Then let the omelette cool slightly, then sprinkle the remaining fresh chopped parsley on top for a pop of colour and flavour.
Enjoy your fluffy air fryer omelette as a quick breakfast with buttered toast, or serve it with a crisp green salad for a light and satisfying lunch!
Tips for Air Fryer Omelette
1. Use a shallow, oven-safe dish
To ensure your omelette cooks evenly, use a shallow, oven-safe dish that fits comfortably in your air fryer basket. You can also use a silicone muffin cup for individual portions.
2. Preheat the air fryer
Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (350°F) for about 2 to 3 minutes. This will ensure that your omelette starts cooking immediately and gets a nice golden colour.
3. Use fresh eggs
The fresher the eggs, the fluffier and tastier your omelette will be. Whisk them well to incorporate air for a lighter texture.
4. Season and flavour
Season with salt and pepper, and get creative with fillings so add your favourite vegetables, cheese, ham, or herbs. Make sure your fillings are pre-cooked (if needed) and well-drained to avoid excess moisture in your omelette.
5. Grease the dish lightly
For easy removal and to prevent sticking, lightly grease your baking dish or silicone cup with oil or butter before pouring in the eggs.
6. Don’t overfill
Pour the beaten eggs into your dish, but avoid overfilling as leaving a bit of room ensures the omelette can rise and cooks properly.
7. Cook in stages
Cook your omelette for 8 to 10 minutes, checking halfway through. If you prefer a more set texture, you can cook for a couple of extra minutes.
8. Flip for even cooking
If you want an extra golden finish, flip the omelette gently halfway through cooking.
9. Let it rest
Let your omelette sit for a minute or two after cooking to set fully before serving.
10. Serve immediately
Enjoy your fluffy, perfectly cooked omelette straight from the air fryer with a side of toast or salad!
