Ingredients for air fryer halloumi burger
225g Halloumi, cut into 4 large squares
75g of cornflour
2 Tablespoons of paprika
Salt and pepper
4 Bacon rashes
2 Burger buns
1 Little gem lettuce, sliced
1 Red onion, peeled and sliced
6 Baby tomatoes, sliced
8 Cumber slices
2 tablespoons of runny honey
1 teaspoon of chilli flakes
Side salad to serve
2 tablespoons of Piri Piri mayonnaise
Method
Start by carefully cutting your halloumi into quarters, so you have four large squares and then set them to one side. Then in a bowl add in your cornflour, paprika, salt and pepper and give it a good stir.
Dip each piece of halloumi into the cornflour mix, making sure each piece is completely covered. Then spay with some light olive oil and lay them in a single layer directly in the air fryer basket leaving the crisper plate in. Set your air fryer to 190c and cook for 10 to 12 minutes in total. but remember to add in your bacon around the edges and turn over your halloumi half way through.
While the halloumi and bacon have finishing cooking, slice your burger buns and pop them in the toaster, just to get a slight crisp to the buns. Then slice your tomatoes, onion and cucumber. And wash and slice your lettuce, ready to build your bun.
And then in a small bowl, mix your runny honey and chilli flakes, ready to drizzle on your burgers. So when the halloumi is crispy and lightly golden brown all over, remove from the air fryer, along with your bacon. So start to build your burgers, first with a squeeze of piri piri mayo, followed by your sliced veggies. Then finally topping with your halloumi and bacon.
Then finish off your air fryer halloumi burger with a drizzle of your chilli honey dressing and serve with your side salad, potato wedges or french fries.
