Ingredients for Air Fryer Boiled Eggs

2 large fresh eggs (preferable free range)

2 slices of bread (I used a thick sliced white loaf)

Butter

Salt & Pepper to taste

Method

Making hard boiled eggs in the air fryer could not be simpler! To get started, place two large fresh eggs directly into your air fryer basket. So there is no need to add water or do any special prep – just pop them in, leaving the crisper plates in place. Set your air fryer temperature to 180°C and cook the eggs for 8 minutes. This timing should give you lovely jammy yolks and tender whites, perfect if you enjoy a slightly soft centre.

Do you prefer your eggs a little firmer? No problem. Simply extend the cooking time by a minute or two until you hit your ideal level of doneness. Since air fryers can vary slightly between models, you might need a little trial and error to find your perfect timing. But once you do, it will be effortless every time. One of the best parts of this method is how hands-off it is: no waiting for water to boil, no careful watching, and no mess.

When the timer goes off, carefully remove the eggs from the basket. They will be very hot, so it is best to use tongs or a tea towel to protect your hands. Tap the shells gently to crack them, peel, and season the eggs with a good pinch of sea salt and a generous grind of black pepper. You can also leave them in the shell if you prefer the classic “egg and soldiers” style.

Serve your dippy eggs immediately alongside buttery toast cut into ‘soldiers’ for dipping into that rich, golden yolk. It’s the perfect comfort food for lazy mornings, quick weekday breakfasts, or a nostalgic weekend treat. Simple, satisfying, and ready in under 10 minutes. Once you try it, you will wonder why you ever made eggs any other way!

Tips for Air Fryer Boiled Eggs

1. No water needed!
One of the best things about making boiled eggs in the air fryer? You don’t need a pot of water. Just pop the eggs directly into the air fryer basket. It’s completely mess-free and super easy – perfect for busy mornings or meal prep!.

2. Use room temperature eggs
Before cooking, let your eggs sit out for about 10 to 15 minutes. Using room temperature eggs helps prevent cracking caused by the sudden heat of the air fryer. A small step, but it makes a difference!

3. Know your timing
Adjust cook time depending on how you like your yolks:

Soft-boiled: 8 minutes

Jammy: 9–10 minutes

Hard-boiled: 11 to 13 minutes
Set the air fryer to 150 to 160°C (300 to 320°F) for the best results.

4. Preheat your air fryer
It is optional but you can give your air fryer a 2 or 3 minute head start by preheating it. This helps the eggs to cook more evenly from the moment they go in.

5. Use a trivet or rack if needed
If your air fryer basket has large holes in it, then use a rack or silicone liner to prevent the eggs from rolling around and cracking.

6. Cool them quickly
Once done, transfer eggs immediately to an ice bath for between 5 and 10 minutes. This will stop the cooking process immediately and makes peeling your boiled eggs so much easier.

7. Peel under running water
Gently crack the shell and peel the egg under a bit of cool running water – it helps lift the shell and keeps things tidy.

8. Store for later
Air fried boiled eggs keep well in the fridge for up to a week. And they are just perfect for quick snacks, salads, or breakfast on the go!
