With this simple recipe you will never want to bake your bread another way.
Crusty bread rolls are the perfect accompaniment to so many dishes. Like soups and stews and when served fresh from the air fryer and still warm they are a melt in the mouth delight. I cooked these simple air fried bread rolls on the Channel 5 TV show AIR FRYERS: SUNDAY LUNCH MADE EASY which first aired on 3rd April 2024.
Since then this recipe has been in high demand. As it is simple and easy to follow but an absolute delight to eat. Whether you are looking for a roll to go with your soup, or simply want to lavish it in butter and devour, this is the perfect go to recipe. PREP 30 minutes
COOK 20 minutes
KIT you will need: an air fryer, mixing bowl and tea towel
Ingredients for air fryer bread rolls
250g of ready made bread mix
170ml of lukewarm water
Plain flour for kneading
A pinch of salt
Method
Start by putting the bread mix into a mixing bowl and then slowly add the lukewarm water whilst mixing. Leave the dough to rest in the bowl for 5 minutes or so.
Next flour a board and knead the dough for another 5 minutes. Leave the dough to prove for 5 minutes more. Then knead the dough again for a further 5 minutes.
Then cut the dough equally into four then shape each by hand to make 4 bread rolls. Cover your bread rolls in a tea towel and second prove for around half an hour. Some air fryers have a proving function so you could use that if yours has it.
Next, put your bread rolls directly into the air fryer drawer, leaving the crisper plate in. And cook your bread on Bake mode (or air fry mode if you do not have this option) for around 20 minutes at 160c.
Around three minutes before the end of the cooking time, sprinkle the air fryer bread rolls with some sesame seeds and poppy seeds. And don’t forget to spray them with a little oil to make them golden. Serve warm with butter or as a side dish with creamy soup.
