Air Fryer Tandoori Chicken

Have you ever been to an event or party and been absolutely blown away by the food and then been wondering how on earth your host managed to pull it all off? I guarantee it was most likely great looking, and great tasting food, that was actually super simple to create – just like these air fryer tandoori chicken bites. They look great, they smell amazing, your guest’s taste buds will love you, but they are fast and easy to make – a win for any hostess. I cooked these delicious air fried tandoori chicken bites on the Channel 5 TV show AIR FRYERS: ENTERTAINING MADE EASY which first aired on 4th April 2024. But making tandoori chicken in the air fryer is so convenient and just as tasty as traditional grilled tandoori chicken. So this tandoori chicken bites recipe is just perfect for an Indian buffet with friends or family!

COOK 20 minutes

KIT you will need an air fryer, a silicone mould and a mixing bowl.

Ingredients for air fryer tandoori chicken

2 chicken breasts

1 tablespoon of tandoori spice rub

1 tablespoon of olive oil

To serve:

Mini poppadom

Mango chutney

Red onion pickle

Yoghurt raita

Fresh coriander, chopped

Method

So start by placing the two whole chicken breasts into a mixing bowl and add one tablespoon of olive oil. Wearing gloves, mix together well with your hands so that the oil coats all of the chicken. Then add a tablespoon of tandoori spice rub to the bowl and mix until the chicken is evenly coated. But if you have time, it is better to prepare the chicken in advance and leave it marinating in the fridge for at least an hour to intensify the tandoori flavour.

Then place your two chicken breasts in the air fryer drawer. I like to use a silicone mould so that my air fryer stays clean. A disposable tin foil tray or oven proof dish will work just as well. Then cook your chicken for 20 minutes on 190c. Remember to turn the chicken breasts half way through the cooking to ensure they are evenly cooked.

So whilst the spiced chicken breasts are cooking, lay some mini poppadom out on to a serving plate. Add a teaspoon of mango chutney and some red onion pickle on to each mini poppadom.

Remove the chicken from the air fryer and leave to rest for five minutes. Then once cooled slice your air fryer tandoori chicken breasts and place one slice onto each poppadom. Next add some yoghurt raita on top of the chicken.

Finish with a scatter of coriander and tuck in!
