KIT you will need an air fryer, some paper towels and a mixing bowl.
Ingredients for air fryer spicy chickpeas
A 500g tin of chickpeas, drained
1 teaspoon of Paprika
Light vegetable oil spray
To serve:
1 tablespoon of dried onion flakes
1 teaspoon of dried chilli flakes
Method
All you need to do is rinse and drain your chickpeas and then dry them off as much as you can with kitchen roll. This is the most important step as the drier they are, the crispier they will become! If you have time, leave the chickpeas in a single layer on kitchen towel to dry for at least an hour.
Then put the dried chickpeas into a mixing bowl and spray them with a little fry light oil and sprinkle with a teaspoon of paprika. Give them a good shake to make sure that all the chickpeas are coated in oil and seasoned well.
So next you need to pop the seasoned chickpeas directly into your air fryer drawer. Leave the crisper plate in to help the air circulate for better cooking. Try to make sure the chickpeas are in a single layer. Then cook them on 200C for about 8 minutes until they are golden brown. Make sure you give the air fryer basket a good shake after around 4 minutes of cooking. This will make sure all the chickpeas cook evenly.
When your chickpeas have finished cooking, I like to serve my air fryer paprika chickpeas with a sprinkle of crispy onions and crushed dried chillies.
