Air Fryer Chilli Tofu

You can find this air fryer chilli tofu recipe on page 90 of The Ultimate Air Fryer Cookbook. COOK 10 to 15 minutes

SERVES 2 people

KIT you will need kitchen roll, two mixing bowls and an air fryer

Ingredients for air fryer chilli tofu

A 300g block of tofu

1 teaspoon of garlic salt

1 teaspoon of chilli powder

A tablespoon of sesame oil

60g of corn flour

A bunch of spring onions, finely chopped

1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds

1 fresh chilli, finely chopped

A lime, cut into wedges

To serve:

Cooked noodles – fresh or dried

A drizzle of soy sauce

For the sriracha mayo:

2 tablespoons of mayonnaise

2 teaspoons of sriracha sauce

Method

So first cut your tofu block into bite-sized cubes. Pat them dry with kitchen roll and put them in a mixing bowl.

Next mix together the garlic salt, chilli powder and sesame oil in another bowl. Pour the mixture over the tofu and stir making sure all the tofu is covered. Cover and leave to marinate in the fridge for at least 15 minutes. Obviously its better if you marinate for a few hours.

Then remove the marinated tofu from the fridge. Spread the cornflour over a flat plate then roll each piece of tofu. Make sure each piece of tofu is coated in flour then place directly into the air fryer drawer in a single layer. Leave the crisper plate in the drawer. You can cook your tofu in a silicone liner, tin foil line or oven proof dish if you prefer to keep you air fryer clean.

Air fry the floured tofu at 200c for around 10 to 15 minutes, or until the tofu is crispy and golden brown. Give the air fryer drawer a good shake half way through cooking.

So whilst the tofu is cooking, cook the fresh noodles and make the dipping sauce. Simply mix the sriracha sauce and mayonnaise in a bowl.

Serve the air fried tofu on a bed of cooked noodles with a scattering of sliced spring onions, toasted sesame seeds, chopped chilli. Then drizzle over the soy sauce and put your lime on the side along with the sriracha mayo for dipping.
