PREP 5 minutes
COOK 12 minutes
SERVES 2 as a main or 4 as a light lunch
KIT you will need an air fryer and 4 wooden skewers, soaked in water
Ingredients for Air Fryer Chicken Caesar Skewers
2 chicken breasts, cut into chunks
3 tbsp Caesar dressing
1 tsp garlic powder
olive oil spray
sea salt and ground black pepper
To serve:
4 medium tortilla wraps
1 little gem lettuce, leaves separated
a handful of Parmesan shavings
Caesar dressing, for drizzling
16 croutons (you can use shopbought or homemade)
Method
Start by preparing the chicken. Place the diced chicken pieces into a medium-sized bowl and add the Caesar dressing, garlic powder, a generous pinch of black pepper, and just a little salt. Toss everything together until the chicken is completely coated. If you have time, cover the bowl and let it marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes, or even overnight. The longer it sits, the more those delicious flavours will soak into the meat, giving you extra-tender and tasty chicken once cooked.
When you’re ready to cook, thread the marinated chicken pieces evenly onto your skewers. Try not to overcrowd the skewers, leaving a little space between each piece allows the hot air in the air fryer to circulate properly, helping the chicken cook more evenly and get those lovely caramelised edges. Lightly spray all sides of the skewers with oil to help with browning and prevent sticking.
Preheat your air fryer to 190°C for around 3 minutes. Make sure the crisper plates are in place inside the basket, as they help the heat reach the underside of the chicken for a better finish.
Carefully lay the skewers onto the crisper plates in a single layer, leaving a bit of room between each one if possible. Air fry for 10–12 minutes, turning halfway through the cooking time. The chicken should be fully cooked through, juicy inside and just lightly charred at the edges once done. If your pieces are slightly larger, you may need an extra minute or two.
Once cooked, remove the skewers and assemble your wraps. Layer crisp lettuce leaves, the freshly cooked chicken, Parmesan shavings, and a few crunchy croutons for texture. Finish with an extra drizzle of Caesar dressing, wrap up tightly, and enjoy immediately while warm and delicious!
Tips for Perfect Air Fryer Chicken Caesar Skewers
For tender, juicy chicken every time, try cutting your chicken breasts into evenly sized pieces before skewering. This helps them cook at the same rate and prevents smaller pieces from drying out. If you have time, marinating the chicken for at least 20–30 minutes (or even overnight) in the Caesar dressing will boost the flavour and give you that delicious coated texture after air frying.
To avoid sticking, lightly spray your air fryer basket with oil or use a silicone liner that’s safe for high heat. When placing the skewers inside, leave a little space between each one so the hot air can circulate. This is key for achieving golden edges and a quicker, more even cook. Halfway through, flip the skewers to make sure they crisp up on all sides.
Use wooden or bamboo skewers that have been soaked in water for 10–15 minutes beforehand. This stops them from scorching during cooking. If using metal skewers, they’ll help keep heat running through the centre of the chicken, speeding up cooking time slightly.
You can customise your wraps to suit your taste or whatever you have on hand. Little Gem lettuce works beautifully because it’s crisp and sturdy, but romaine or iceberg are great alternatives. Warm your tortillas for just a few seconds in the air fryer to make them more flexible and easier to wrap.
If you like extra crunch, add homemade air-fried croutons or a handful of crispy bacon pieces. And don’t forget a final drizzle of Caesar dressing and a sprinkle of Parmesan for that classic flavour hit. These wraps are perfect for quick lunches, family dinners, or prepping ahead for busy days, so simple, fresh and irresistible!.
