Air Fryer Blackberry Crumble

You will love this delicious yet simple air fryer blackberry crumble recipe. Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it’s the perfect easy dessert. We picked the blackberries ourselves from the local hedgerows so it was such an affordable pudding to make! But you can of course use shop-bought fresh or frozen berries as well if you don’t live near the countryside.

Whether you prefer serving with cold ice cream (or cream) or warm custard, I a sure everyone can agree that a berry crumble is a favourite Winter warmer. Using your air fryer allows you to cook a fruit crumble more efficiently than an oven. And helps create an extra crisp crumble crust, too. Learn how to make this classic delicious seasonal dessert with an extra crispy crust in around thirty minutes.

KIT you will need an air fryer, a mixing bowl and oven proof dish.

Ingredients for air fryer blackberry crumble

750g of fresh blackberries

75g of soft light brown sugar

For the crumble:

300g of plain flour

50g of soft light brown sugar

175g of cold unsalted butter

1 teaspoon of ground ginger

100g of granola (optional)

To serve:

Vanilla ice cream, double cream or warm custard

Method

Start by washing your blackberries thoroughly and then place them in an oven proof dish. And sprinkle over your brown sugar. Then put your dish in the air fryer drawer and cook for 15 minutes on 160C. Then give your berries a good stir half way through cooking. You could also add chopped apples to the blackberries and cook for ten minutes.

So whilst the blackberries are cooking, prepare your crumble mix. Put 300g of plain flour into a mixing bowl and then add 75g of soft brown sugar, 175g of cold unsalted butter and a teaspoon of ground ginger. Rub the mixture together using your fingertips until you have a crumble texture. Then add in 100g of granola at the end to give the crumble more sweetness.

Open the air fryer drawer and carefully add your crumble mix on top of the berries. Then cook for another 30 to 35 minutes on 160c or until the crumble is golden brown and the fruit is very tender and piping hot. You should be able to see the berry juices bubble through the crumble. You can cover the crumble with some tin foil to stop it burning if it is needed.

Then carefully remove your air fryer blackberry crumble from the drawer and allow to cool slightly. Then serve your blackberry crumble with a dollop of cream or custard or my favourite is a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
