Air fried flat bread with sun dried tomato

I made these lovely little air fried flat bread to accompany our pasta last night. The combination of the warm, crispy flatbreads with the rich and hearty pasta sauce was simply divine. These flatbreads are incredibly versatile and can be served with a variety of dishes or enjoyed on their own with a dip. The air fryer ensures they cook evenly and achieve a delightful crispness that complements their soft and chewy centre. Not only are these flatbreads quick and easy to prepare, but they also bring a homemade touch to any meal.

These air-fried flatbreads are perfect for mopping up sauces, serving with dips, or as a side to salads, soups and pastas. The crisp, golden-brown edges provide a satisfying crunch. While the centre remains soft and chewy, creating a delightful textural contrast. The sun-dried tomatoes add sweet and tangy notes that perfectly balance the savoury bread. They are versatile and can be flavoured with various herbs and spices to suit your meal. For an extra touch, brush them with a bit of olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt or fresh herbs right before serving.

Whether you’re looking to add a homemade touch to your meals or seeking a quick and tasty bread alternative, these air-fried flatbreads are sure to become a staple in your kitchen. Enjoy the delightful blend of crispness and softness with every bite!

Essential kit

You will need an air fryer, mixing bowl and tea towel.

Ingredients

250g of ready made bread mix
170ml of lukewarm water
Plain flour for kneading
Pinch of salt

Sun dried tomatoes

Method

I used a sun dried tomato bread mix to make these and added some extra sun dried tomatoes in there too.

I followed the packets instructions and put the bread mix into a mixing bowl. And slowly add the lukewarm water whilst mixing. Leave to rest in the bowl for five minutes. Flour a board and knead for five minutes then leave the dough to prove for five minutes. Then knead the dough for a further 5 minutes before covering with a towel for a second prove.

Next I shaped the dough into mini pizza sizes with my hands. I cooked mine one at a time in the air fryer, on 180c for around 8 minutes. Keep an eye on the air fried flat bread as they may catch a little on the bottom. I used the trusty grease proof paper under them just in case!

Some might think that using a store brought ready bread mix is cheating but I think that it just makes sense. It makes this recipe even faster to make and simplicity is always something that I aim to achieve. Plus it also means that you aren’t buying lots of different ingredients that you are in danger of not using up fully.
