Air fried spicy prawns

This simple air fried spicy prawns recipe delivers juicy prawns in a spicy marinade. If I’m being organised, I like to marinate my prawns the night before but an hour before is still fine. The succulent prawns, infused with the bold flavours of paprika, garlic, and chilli, are perfectly cooked in the air fryer, making them a quick and delicious option for any meal. The zesty lime juice adds a refreshing tang that balances the heat, creating a dish that’s sure to impress. Often overlooked prawns provide several nutritional benefits so are a great addition to your diet.

Furthermore, prawns contain antioxidants like astaxanthin, which is responsible for their pink colour and offers protective benefits against oxidative stress and inflammation. Including prawns in your diet can contribute to overall health and wellbeing, providing essential nutrients without the high calorie content of many other protein sources. This air fried spicy prawns recipe not only offers a delicious and flavourful meal but also packs a nutritional punch, making it a healthy choice for any occasion.

Essential Kit

You will need: an air fryer and wooden skewers, soaked in water for at least 30 minutes.

Ingredients

165g of fresh prawns

1 teaspoon of Paprika

A clove of Garlic

1 red chilli

The juice of half a lime, (save the rest for the garnish)

Salt and pepper

Method

I like to marinade my prawns the night before, but it’s not a problem at all to do it maybe an hour before. In a mixing bowl I basically just mix all the ingredients together!

If you like it a little more spicy add a little more chilli. Always adjust the ingredients to your preferred tastes. When ready to cook I popped my prawns on mini skewers then spray with a little oil and pop them into your air fryer on 180c for 8/10 minutes.

All air fryers tend to be a little different, so do always check halfway. I like to serve my air fried spicy prawns on mini tortilla wraps with watercress and red peppers. If you would like to add that squeeze of lime over for that added bite.

Prawns are a fantastic source of high-quality protein, making them a great choice for creating a healthy lifestyle with a varied diet. They are low in calories yet rich in several essential nutrients, including selenium, which is important for maintaining a healthy immune system and thyroid function. Prawns also provide a good amount of vitamin B12, which is crucial for nerve function and the production of red blood cells. Additionally, prawns are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, known for their benefits in reducing inflammation and supporting heart health.
