Air fried sausage burgers

This was a little experiment with chicken sausages that we had for dinner the previous night and I had some left over. I don’t like waste so rather than leaving the sausages to sit at the back of the fridge and be forgotten about I made these air fried sausage burgers! I find that the simplest recipes come when I am looking at what left overs and extras we have. They need to be used up before they go off, and this recipe is testament to that. With only a few core ingredients and a couple of extras for serving. You can easily adapt this recipe to make sure that it fits your needs and tastes.

There is nothing more satisfying that whipping up an entire meal in the air fryer. Minimal mess, minimal clean up, minimal cooking times, and minimal costs – an absolute dream. Indulge in the goodness of these homemade air fried sausage burgers. Created from leftover chicken sausages and a handful of kitchen staples. Picture juicy chicken burgers infused with zesty lime juice and a hint of fiery chili flakes. Perfectly complemented by the satisfying crunch of breadcrumbs. Each bite is a harmonious blend of flavours and textures. Guaranteed to tantalise your taste buds and leave you craving more.

Ingredients

3x chicken sausages

1 egg

Lime juice

Chilli flakes

Handful of breadcrumbs

Method

I first popped the sausages in to a bowl, added the lime juice, chilli and combined them with the egg and a handful of breadcrumbs. Then I shaped the mixture into little patties, sprayed with fry light oil and popped them into the air fryer. I cooked for 25 minutes on 160c, turning occasionally.

I used a cheddar and sun dried tomato bread mix. All you need to do is add water then kneed and rest for a while. (follow packet instructions) I made mine into little rolls, sprayed with fry light oil and popped them into the air fryer on 180c for around 15 to 20 minutes, checking occasionally. When the rolls are ready, place them on a cooling rack for a few minutes. Remove the chicken burgers from the air fryer making sure they are cooked all the way though and pop them in your ready made buns!

I served my air fried sausage burgers with watercress and onions with a dollop of mayo.

And let’s not forget about the bread. Warm, fluffy, and home-made. Made from a simple cheddar and sun-dried tomato bread mix, these homemade buns are the ideal partner for your chicken burgers. Whether you’re enjoying them fresh out of the air fryer or saving them for later, these delicious air fried sausage burgers are sure to be a hit with the whole family.
