This air fried sausage burger recipe is a great way to use up leftover ingredients from the back of your fridge.
I hate to see good food go to waste. With the cost of food rising it’s become even more important to make sure that every single piece gets used and enjoyed. But it’s no longer about just throwing your left overs together in pan and making some kind of hash or soup out of them. Now its possible to take those leftovers and completely transform them and create a new delicious dish to enjoy.
This air fried sausage burger with a fried quails egg recipe was born from the leftovers that I found lurking at the back of the fridge. Refusing to add to the growing waste problem I rolled up my sleeves, put my creative hat on. And of course pulled out my trusty air fryer and whipped up this delicious meal. These are great for a light lunch or you can add some seasonal greens and serve for dinner.
There’s something immensely satisfying about taking what would have been waste. And turning it into something not just edible, but truly enjoyable.
Essential kit
You will need an air fryer and mixing bowl.
Ingredients
2 pork sausages
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 quails egg
Fresh parsley
Salt and pepper
To serve:
Sweet chilli jam
Watercress
Method
We had two left over sausages from yesterday so I popped them into a mixing bowl, added fresh parsley, a thinly sliced onion and seasoned with salt and pepper. I thoroughly mixed all the ingredients together and made a rough pattie shape using my hands. Next I sprayed the patties with olive oil and placed into the air fryer drawer. I the cooked them for 25 minutes on 180c, turning half way to ensure they were crispy on both sides.
When the pattie was thoroughly cooked all the way through (always check before serving), I placed it on top of my bread.
I gently fried my quails egg in a small pan and placed carefully on top of my air fried sausage burger. I sprinkled a little sweet chilli jam to taste and garnished with watercress. The contrast of textures and flavours in this dish makes for a great combination. The crispy, savoury sausage pattie pairs perfectly with the smooth, rich quail’s egg. While the sweet chilli jam adds a surprising and delightful kick. The fresh watercress not only adds a pop of colour but also a peppery freshness that balances the dish beautifully. This recipe proves that with a bit of creativity, leftovers can be transformed into a meal that’s both nourishing and indulgent.
