Air fried protein balls

If you’re looking for a delicious and healthy snack then you can get your protein fix with these simple crispy air fried protein balls! Thanks to the speedy air fryer, you can make a batch of these tasty protein balls in just ten minutes. Which is so much quicker than baking in a conventional oven. Packed with natural ingredients and free from any artificial preservatives, they are a healthier option compared to many store-bought snacks.
This is the perfect recipe to use as the base for your own protein ball creation. You could add in a scoop of protein power, some chopped nuts or some greens. You just might need a little extra peanut butter to make sure it all combines and sticks well.

Essential kit

You will need: an air fryer and large mixing bowl

Ingredients

2 ripe bananas

4 tablespoons of rolled oats

1 tablespoon of maple syrup

1 tablespoon of peanut butter

A teaspoon of chia seeds.

Method

In a large mixing bowl, mash two bananas with a fork to make a smooth paste. Then add four tablespoons of rolled oats, one tablespoon of maple syrup, one tablespoon of peanut butter and one teaspoon of chia seeds.

Mix all the ingredients together thoroughly using a spoon. And then using your hands, roll the mixture into small balls about the size of golf balls.

Pop your protein balls into the air fryer drawer and cook for around 8 to 10 minutes on 180c. Remembering to turn them half way through the cook to ensure they are crispy all over.

These air fried protein balls are just what you need after a work out.

These protein balls are a delicious and convenient way to add more protein in your diet. And also ensure you have healthy snacks on hand for those times when you just need a little ‘something’. Once cooled pop them in an airtight container to keep them fresh or freeze them for a later date. I like to make these in batches so that I have some on hand to nibble on. And some ready for a later date, they are easy to make and keep well.

For those who love experimenting in the kitchen, there are endless variations you can try with this basic recipe. For a chocolatey twist, add a tablespoon of cocoa powder to the mix, or some dark chocolate chips. If you prefer a fruity flavour, try adding a handful of dried cranberries or raisins. For a bit of crunch, chopped almonds, walnuts, or sunflower seeds can be fantastic additions. You could even add a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg for a warming spice note. And if you have kids in the house why not get them to help you make them, kids love mushing up the bananas and then getting stuck in with their hands to roll them into balls. A fun activity for you all.
