Air fried pork shoulder

Just reading this recipe will have your mouth watering and get you running to your local butchers for a pork shoulder joint! A traditional Sunday roast cooked to perfection using the air fryer – who knew they were for more than just chips. I cooked this succulent air fried pork shoulder with crackling on the Channel 5 TV show AIR FRYERS: SUNDAY LUNCH MADE EASY which first aired on 3rd April 2024. Roasting pork in the air fryer is a great way to cook it because it is so much quicker than the conventional oven, saving on both time and money, and the crackling will be so crispy that you will not want to roast pork any other way again! Your air fryer is a versatile tool and once you begin to unlock its secrets with recipes like this air fried pork shoulder you wont look back.

Essential kit

You will need: an air fryer, mixing bowl and a large silicone mould.

Ingredients

1.1kg pork shoulder
300g of green beans
2 leeks, sliced

Vegetable oil

Seasoning

Method

Start by scoring the pork skin.
Next rub vegetable oil into the pork skin with your hands, then rub a pinch of sea salt into the pork skin.
Then pop your pork joint into a large silicone mould and place in your air fryer drawer. Cook for 90 minutes at 180c, Check the progress after 40 minutes or so.
When there is around 10 minutes left for the pork joint to cook, you can start to prepare your vegetables.
Roughly cur your green beans and leeks and put into a mixing bowl. Spray your vegetables with oil and season with salt and pepper. Give them a good shake in the mixing bowl then add to your air fryer drawer. Cook for 6 to 7 minutes on 180c.
Remove your pork and let it rest before slicing the meat. Remove the air fried vegetables and add to a serving dish then lay the slice pork on top. Drizzle the pork with the meat juices from the silicone mould that you cooked the pork in.
Serve your delicious air fried pork shoulder with apple sauce and roast potatoes!
