Air fried fish pie

This air fried fish pie really is one of the best pies that I have cooked in the air fryer!

I made a leek and potato soup at the weekend and I had some leeks and some potatoes left over. So I thought I would try this new way to cook this classic family favourite. Fish pie is tasty, filling and nutritious, and makes a fantastic midweek dinner that all the family will enjoy.

I especially like to make pie’s through the autumn and winter months as they are so warming and create a cosy and comforting feeling, although this air fried fish pie is light enough to enjoy any time of the year.

The combination of tender salmon, creamy sauce, and crispy potato topping makes this dish incredibly satisfying. The air fryer helps achieve a beautifully crisp and golden potato layer, while keeping the fish moist and succulent. The aroma of the bubbling cream and hollandaise, mingling with the fresh parsley, will have everyone eagerly awaiting dinner.

Salmon is not only delicious but also a powerhouse of nutrients. It is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for heart health, reducing inflammation, and supporting brain function. Additionally, salmon provides a good source of high-quality protein, vitamins, and minerals, including vitamin D, B vitamins, and selenium. Incorporating salmon into your diet can contribute to overall well-being and make your meals both tasty and nutritious.

Essential kit

You will need an air fryer and an oven proof dish.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons of cream
1 tablespoon of hollandaise sauce
A handful of parsley, chopped
1 small filet of salmon
1 small potato, thinly sliced
A handful of grated cheddar cheese

Seasoning

Method

I cut the salmon filet into bit-sized pieces, sliced one small potato and roughly chopped the parsley. Next I placed the salmon, cream, hollandaise and parsley in an oven proof dish then seasoned with salt and pepper. Next I placed the sliced potatoes on the top along with the grated cheese. Then place the pie dish into your air fryer on 160c for around 20 minutes.

All air fryers differ so make sure to check that the air fried fish pie is cooked through before serving.

The potatoes should be tender and golden brown, and the salmon should flake easily when tested with a fork. The result is a comforting, hearty dish that is perfect for any season.

Serve this air fried fish pie with a side of steamed green vegetables or a crisp salad for a complete meal. The creamy, cheesy topping contrasts wonderfully with the fresh, vibrant sides, making every bite a delight. This dish is sure to become a family favourite, enjoyed time and again.
