Air fried savoury tarts

These air fried festive savoury tarts are like a Christmas flavour explosion in your mouth! Picture this: flaky puff pastry, savoury sausage mixed with hearty stuffing, all wrapped in smoky bacon and baked to golden perfection in your air fryer, sounds dreamy doesn’t it. Now imagine that you are able to whip these up in your own kitchen in mere minutes. It’s a taste sensation that will have your mouth watering and your taste buds singing with holiday cheer. This was a little trial-run for an idea I had for a starter on Christmas day and it was delicious, and was also a great way to use up some left overs. These air fried festive savoury tarts would also make the most incredible canapes too, just make them a little smaller because they are rather filling!

If you’re anything like us then Boxing Day onwards is all about ‘picky’ foods, and making the most of leftovers so that nothing goes to waste. If you don’t want to make these air fried festive savoury tarts as a starter for Christmas day, then I would definitely recommend whipping up a batch with some leftovers and adding them to your boxing day buffet. Light and delicious you can make these as big or small as you like based on the leftovers at hand and the silicone moulds you have available.
I loved adding these to our Christmas Day meal, they bought something a little different to the table (no pun intended) and they will definitely make an appearance again.

You will need 4 silicone moulds.

Ingredients

1/2 pack of puff pastry
1 large sausage
1 egg
1/2 pack of stuffing
4 rashers of smoky bacon

Method

First I made my stuffing the day before and I had some left over, so I removed the sausage skin and mixed in with the stuffing, adding a little seasoning. I then rolled out my puff pastry and cut into rough circles as I like the rugged look with pastry! Next I lined my silicone moulds with the pastry discs, then placed in my smoky bacon around the sides. I then added the stuffing and sausage mix on the top and egg washed the pastry. Next I popped into my air fryer on 185c for about 10 minutes. Check half way as cooking times may vary depending on what type of air fryer you use. I served my savoury tarts with a dollop of cranberry sauce.

These air fried savoury tarts really are perfect Christmas nibble. Whether enjoyed as a starter, canape, or leftovers turned yummy snack, these air fried savoury tarts are guaranteed to be a hit at your holiday gatherings. So fire up your air fryer, get creative in the kitchen, and treat yourself to a taste of Christmas magic!
