Air fried bread rolls

Your air fryer is not just for making crispy chips or chicken, you can also use it to bake! Why not get baking with this quick and delicious recipe of air fried bread rolls!

Bread rolls are the perfect accompaniment to so many dishes and when served fresh from the air fryer and still warm they are a melt in the mouth delight. I cooked these simple air fried bread rolls on the Channel 5 TV show AIR FRYERS: SUNDAY LUNCH MADE EASY which first aired on 3rd April 2024, since then this recipe has been in high demand, it’s simple and easy to follow but an absolute delight to eat. Whether you are looking for a roll to go with your soup, or simply want to lavish it in butter and devour, this is the perfect go to recipe.

Essential kit

You will need: an air fryer, mixing bowl and tea towel.

Ingredients

250g of ready made bread mix
170ml of lukewarm water
Plain flour for kneading
Pinch of salt

Method

Put the bread mix into a mixing bowl and slowly add the lukewarm water whilst mixing. Leave to rest in the bowl for 5 minutes.
Flour a board and knead for 5 minutes.
Leave the dough to prove for 5 minutes.
Knead the dough for a further 5 minutes.
Cut the dough into four then shape by hand into 4 rolls.
Cover in a tea towel and second prove for half an hour, some air fryers have a proving function.
Cook on Bake mode (or air fry mode if you do not have this option) for 20 minutes at 160c.
Around three minutes before the end, sprinkle the air fried bread rolls with sesame seeds and poppy seeds and spray with oil.
